Tab Backups
In the Backups tab, so-called system restore points can be created, exported, imported, applied, and displayed:

These system restore points save the configuration of the NeuroomNet server. This includes all settings made in the individual modules, such as the Setup module, but not the software version of the NeuroomNet server itself. See the section General Recommendations for recommendations on data security of the NeuroomNet system.
These system restore points are initially stored directly on the NeuroomNet server (database), but can also be exported as so-called local copies to a predefined path. In addition, these local copies can also be downloaded as a ZIP file for storage on a completely different storage medium for security reasons (to mitigate cases such as a defective hard drive).
Operation
Creating a System Restore Point
Using button 1 you start the creation of a system restore point.
After completion of the restore point, it appears in the list of completed operations. The log can be viewed once via 2 and the display of the creation of the system restore point under Running Operations can be removed via 3.
Exporting a System Restore Point to a Local Copy
To export a restore point as a ZIP file (for storage on an external storage medium), it must first be exported as a so-called local copy.
To do this, click on the restore point 1 and then on "Export restore point to disk" 2:

Applying a Restore Point to the System
To apply an already created restore point to the current system, i.e. to reset the state of the system to the state of the restore point saved at that time, first select the corresponding restore point 1 and then "Import restore point into the running system" 3.
Warning! This should only be carried out in exceptional cases for very important reasons and the following must be observed:
- The current state of the system will be deleted
- Therefore, a restore point of the current state of the system must be created before performing this action
- The operation takes longer and NeuroomNet is restarted during the process
Creating a Restore Point from a Local Copy
To create a restore point from a local copy (to then apply it to the system, for example), select the corresponding local copy 1 and then click "Import restore point from disk" 2:

Downloading the Local Copy as a ZIP File
You can also download a local copy directly as a ZIP file (usually for storage as a backup on an external storage medium) as follows:
Select the corresponding local copy 1 and then click 3. The download then takes place via the web browser.
General Recommendations
Even though it happens very rarely, cases of data loss can occur, such as a hard drive suddenly no longer working. It is therefore strongly recommended to regularly (and after major changes to the system configuration, such as adding new components) create backups via restore points, and these should also be backed up on external storage media via local copies and downloading as ZIP files (or via the file path of the local copies).
In addition, it is also recommended to create a backup of the complete NeuroomNet server using a file system image. NeuroomNet is happy to assist with questions and support.
